HAIR REMOVAL BY WAXING

Saturday, November 21st, 2009

You can wax your entire body, whether you are a male or a female. However, there are certain areas where you shouldn’t apply wax:

Inside the ears and nose
Eyelashes
On the nipples
The male genital area

There are of course far more women who wax their bodies than men, but the number of males who go in for waxing is on the increase especially those with excessive body hair.

You can wax your entire face, including forehead, but unless absolutely essential, this is not recommended. When getting your sideburns waxed, specify that you want a very small area waxed, and ensure that the beautician sticks to the area close to the ear. You could wax your chin, upper lip and eyebrows as well. However, it is preferable to thread the eyebrows and upper lip.

The term ‘Brazillian waxing‘ is used to denote removal of hair from the entire female genital area. As wax is made from purely natural products like sugar, water and lemon, it can be safely applied to the genitalia. Brazillian waxing can be very painful, but many women feel that the results are well worth it. A less painful alternative is a bikini wax, in which the area visible outside the bikini line is waxed.

Wedge Heels

Friday, November 20th, 2009

Wedge heels represent heels that run the length of the sole or base of the shoe — in the shape of a block. This is distinguished from other types of heels that simply offer a heel that falls down from the heel of the foot and arrives to a tip. Usually wedge heels appear in summery shoes, with open toes, in slides, or in strappy sandals.

Wedges come in various colours and designs. One of the most trendy wedge heels in the late 70s and early 80s was prepared by the shoe maker Candies. These shoes had firm plastic block heels which yet again became temporarily in style in the 1990s and 2000s.

Many people confuse wedge heels with platform shoes. The two styles are not equally exclusive. They have some similarities; however, wedge heels are not always platforms. at times the wedge simply raises the upper portion of the foot, sliding to a thin sole below the balls and toes.

Wedge heels are always in vogue and never out of style. They usually offer a more stability than the typical heel, because the wedge expands out from the whole sole of the shoe. You don’t have to balance on a pointed heel as the wedge lets you rest your entire heel on the floor. If you find it difficult to walk in heels, wedge heels can be a fine way to start.

Indian Fashion Industry

Thursday, November 19th, 2009

Environment and has given a more stable picture of the fashion business. In the 50s, 60s and 70s, the Indian fashion scenario wasn’t exactly colorless. It was exciting, stylish and very graceful. There were no designers, models, star or fashion design labels that the country could show off. The value of a garment was judged by its style and fabric and not by who made it.

It was regarded as ever so chic! and fashionable to approach any unfamiliar tailor, who could make a garment for a few rupees, providing the perfect fit, finish and style. The high society lady, who wore it, was proud for getting a good bargain and for giving her name to the end result.

In 60s, tight ‘kurtas’, ‘churidars’ and high coiffures were a trend among ladies. It was an era full of naughtiness and celebration in arts and music and cinema, manifested by liberation from restriction and acceptance of new types of materials such as plastic film and coated polyester fabric.

The 70s witnessed an increase in the export of traditional materials outside the country as well as within. Hence, international fashion arrived in India much before the MTV culture with the bold colors, flower prints and bell-bottoms. Synthetics turned trendy and the disco culture affected the fashion scenario.

How to dress for work

Monday, November 9th, 2009

Sometimes, dressing for work can be quite confusing especially when you are new to the organizational culture and its formal environment. While some feel that you cannot really ‘dress up’ to work, it is possible to be creative within the given paraphernalia for formal dressing.

White blouse with black knew length skirt, or a checks or stripped shirt with black trousers, blazers, scarves, formal leather belts are some of the different attires which are perfect to go to work. A black trouser is must in your wardrobe. Indian dresses like salwar kameez, churidar kurta, sarees are also considered formal and can be worn at the work place. In some industries (e.g. advertising agencies especially in the creative department) wearing formal is not compulsory. People dress in casual clothing like jeans, skirts etc teamed up with a tunic or a shirt. Hence, before joining office, try to find out about the kind of dressing that is desirable in that organization.

Another thing that one should keep in mind is that comfort is absolutely necessary when ones mind is at work for hours at stretch. If your clothing is not comfortable, you be not be at ease and may not be fully able to concentrate on the work. Clothing at work should neither be too tight nor too loose. Fitting is very important. It should fit you just perfect. They should also be clean and ironed.
